No problem, thank you for helping fix the tags! I forgot to mention . It's a pretty standard toning effect which would technically fall under monochrome - but since 'sepia' is more specific, it might benefit more under the latter. — heroinchic 7 months 1 week ago

After tagging several hundreds I got another question.
You know how cameras are made up of photodiode? Which makes it impossible to get complete black colour in the images
unless there is absolutely no light at the region or if the diodes is broken which you just get a dead pixel.
Or simpler unless there is complete absence of light in the photo it falls under greyscale.
Which means most "black and white" photography most of the time is just greyscale.
Working under this assumption most people who upload the photograph images tag it under
black and white because cameras have "black and white" settings.
Do I just keep it "black and white" or create a new tag for "black and white photography" or just change it whole sale to greyscale?

Fair point. I see now why most people have been tagging grayscale as black and white and vice versa. Given that, I still think photography-wallpapers should be tagged as and not . Here's why: Wallpapers which are purely black-and-white (usually typography, anime vectors, certain artwork, patterns, etc) cannot be described as anything other than black and white. doesn’t apply to them because a) no grey b) they exist outside of the photography genre (no photodiode issues). So the only way to differentiate/search for these wallpapers is to reserve for their use exclusively. On the other hand, photography-wallpapers can be tagged with either or and still have any one of the terms be correct. Since has already been delegated to a certain type of wallpaper, we are left with , which is still fine. I personally prefer because although is 'technically correct', is more 'descriptively correct' (what, with all the varying shades of grey). Since this is a wallpaper site, the visual and aesthetic attributes of the picture seem more important and useful in terms of searching.
I don’t think you should make any new tags just yet until the main three have been cleaned up and organized. That way, even if someone invents a fantastic new word for black and white pictures, the collective transfer of wallpapers will be much neater and hopefully error-free. — heroinchic 7 months 1 week ago
