Fair point. I see now why most people have been tagging grayscale as black and white and vice versa. Given that, I still think photography-wallpapers should be tagged as
and not
. Here's why: Wallpapers which are
purely black-and-white (usually typography, anime vectors, certain artwork, patterns, etc) cannot be described
as anything other than black and white.
doesn’t apply to them because a) no grey b) they exist outside of the photography genre (no photodiode issues). So the only way to differentiate/search for these wallpapers is to reserve
for their use exclusively. On the other hand, photography-wallpapers can be tagged with either
or
and still have any one of the terms be correct. Since
has already been delegated to a certain type of wallpaper, we are left with
, which is still fine. I personally prefer
because although
is 'technically correct',
is more 'descriptively correct' (what, with all the varying shades of grey). Since this is a wallpaper site, the visual and aesthetic attributes of the picture seem more important and useful in terms of searching.
I don’t think you should make any new tags just yet until the main three have been cleaned up and organized. That way, even if someone invents a fantastic new word for black and white pictures, the collective transfer of wallpapers will be much neater and hopefully error-free.
