Can someone tell me what this last.fm exactly is? I keep hearing about it but I have no clue what it is.

It's a music thing. Some sort of personal radio I believe.

I use pandora (http://www.pandora.com/people/mygarlicpress) but I think it may only be available in the states. I'll have to check out last.fm.

- You can use Last.fm as internet radio (for most of countries you have to pay for this feature), good for finding new artists.
- You can have a profile where all songs you listen are tracked. You can see the history of the tracks you have listened, and your top artists, top tracks, etc.
- You can find easily similar artists.
- You can find music events.
- If you make very own music, you can upload your own tracks to Last.fm.

I've got a last.fm account, too.

The reason why I don't use it anymore is, that I didn't find out how to tell last.fm to scrobble the songs I listen to in WinAmp.
Before, I had RealPlayer and there was a plugin for scrobbling the songs, but this was'n reliable at all.

So, all in all, what last.fm showed me wasn't representative for what I was listening.
Plus, it is mixing two bands wich have accidantly the same name but are sounding completely different into one kettle and this gave me a hard time, too.

Maybe, if there was a way to scrobble WinAmp, I'd return to last.fm.

Though I mostly listen through Soundcloud, so it's not exactly accurate.

Guys, grooveshark is better. It's literally The World's Music Library. And with groovedown you can download any song legally.

I love Last.fm. Music is pointless when it's not scrobbling!
