Microsoft doesn't like to look good, but i do, so i use custom themes like a boss, and so should you!
This is really easy, just get the patch , or this one if you have windows 7 Reboot. And get a theme from For XP For Seven No one made any skins to vista (how bad! ) For vista...Then put the themes in the c:/windows/resources/themes folder and apply them by either clicking them or going to desktop properties. Have fun

http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion;=&q=shine+2.0#/d2usxxy Used this theme quite a while ago. one of the best for me. and, with an adequate wallpaper, one can obtain a fully awesome set.

Hmm, can't really seem to get it working. I did manage to get the 'back' and 'forward' buttons in explorer to change.

I applied the patch, then I unpacked Shine 2.0 in my C:/Windows/Resources/Themes/. I also screwed around with ExplorerFrame.dll to get the explorer to change. I use Windows 7 32 bits.

First using any type of antivirus is going to ruin the process. Second if you managed to change the back and forward buttons that means ExplorerFrame.dll is taken care of and it's working. The only thing left is to apply that patch (uxtheme) and change the theme in windows theme manager. Run the patch as administrator with antivirus and internet turned off. I got this in my first try. Don't hesitate to question something. As my friend messed up with ExplorerFrame thus making his laptop unable to log-in. Had to restore the back up with command line in safe mode.

Hmm, can't really seem to get it working. I did manage to get the 'back' and 'forward' buttons in explorer to change. how replace the default explorerframe.dll from #WindowsDirectory#\System32 with the other explorerframe?

You can use a tool named "Take Ownership".
You just right click you file and press "Take Ownership" then you can replace it. But be careful, I crashed my windows this way. OR you can use some file replacement tools. I recommend "Theme Manager" because its easy to use.

I'm a moderator on a win 7 themeing site and i recommend universal theme patcher http://www.windows7download.com/win7-universal-theme-patcher/mnefyyoo.html to patch your system to enable 3rd party themes. I would also recommend using theme resource changer http://www.mediafire.com/?86d72iwvh6dk8ya for most of the themes that we are creating now. this app will load the images of the theme from your memory instead of having to edit .dll's if the theme is setup to use it which most of the newer 7 themes are now
very good job

I have used many different themes, but Shine2.0 is without the doubt the best theme available.

I don't want to mess with my Windows 7... I just want to keep it as clean as possible.
One day you'll need to reinstall because of too much garbage. |
