I've seen a few apps that can switch wallpapers from Wallbase, but they're all for Windows (7) or Mobile use...
So the question is simple: Is there any app for Linux? Or are there any apps that can be ported to say for the sake of example Qt4 (C++) or Phyton?

There is no app as of yet. There might be in the future when demand grows.

There is no app as of yet. There might be in the future when demand grows. There probably will never be due to server bandwidth issues.

I've heard that before, but then again: There are apps for Windows and Android... Btw, I know a little bit about Qt4 so maybe I'll have a look what I can do (no promisses, but I've nothing else to do right now... )

Variety Wallpaper Changer - for Ubuntu 12.04 and newer, and it will probably run on other Ubuntu derivatives (e.g. Mint) - but I haven't yet tested. It is a new application that I've been working on during the past 2-3 months and I think it is shaping as one of the best wallpaper changers for Linux. Response from users so far has been vastly positive. Supports Wallbase.cc as an image source.
Video demo Screenshots Project page and source-code Installation (installs in /opt):
Or simply grab the latest deb from here It should fairly soon appear in Ubuntu Software Center as well, I'm waiting for the review process to finish. The application is a contestant in the Ubuntu App Showdown, which hasn't yet completed - if you give it a try and like it, please do make the effort to vote for it in Ubuntu Software Center once it appears there (I'll write an update here when it appears).
There's also Wallch, an other wallpaper changer for Ubuntu, but maybe not as good as the Variety.

Oh, and the Ubuntu App Showdown winners were announced: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/08/ubuntu-app-showdown-winners-announced

Oh, and the Ubuntu App Showdown winners were announced: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/08/ubuntu-app-showdown-winners-announced Yes, but there is a second phase during which the community votes in the Software Center and 3 more applications will win some prizes. I still think Variety has its chances if more people try it out. This phase hasn't yet started - I suppose they first have to include all the apps in the software center. Unfortunately there is not much information as to when this will happen...
