I was wondering.. What is the most popular resolution on this site? Is there some kind of statistic to back it up?
But what I actually mean to ask is when uploading walls, what is the resolution I should choose when resizing? Because I usually do that and since my screen is 1680x1050, I naturally choose 1920x1200... But do users prefer HD (1920x1080)? Or any other size?

There's nothing wrong with leaving wallpapers in the original resolution you find them in, as most users use the "or greater" resolution search option, so the highest resolution you can find without a loss of quality (i.e. without upscaling the wallpaper yourself) would usually be preferable.
As to what is the most popular resolution, I have no idea but I use a pair of 1920x1080 screens if that helps.
^Yeah well when I find large vertical pics and want to make them horizontal I always have a dilemma whether to make it 1920x1200 or 1920x1080, so that's in fact the main purpose of this topic... Maybe you should rename it to - 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 lol

Although the 1920x1080 is the hd res. that i preffer the minimum required for a wallpaper to be featured is 1920x1200, so i try to upload 1920x1200 as often as i can...Both are awesome if you ask me...

1920x1080, because the parts are in hd than 1920x1200

well, if you're cropping a portrait image to a landscape, then you're basically creating a derivative work of art(assuming that's what the original is), since you are choosing what part of the image gets deleted and what is kept, in effect changing the focus of the piece. and if you're doing that, you might as well create 2 of them and upload both 1200 and 1080, because if you're creating the 1200 to upload, why not create your own version of the 1080 too? people using 1080 are free to download the 1200 and crop their own 1080, but if you feel that the image should be cropped in a certain way...
or you could just leave the portrait as it is while uploading and let others crop as they are wont. that way you're not creating a derivative work, you're only sharing. personally, i think if i were a photographer or some such, i would not mind, sharing of my work as much as the distortion of the vision. cropping for personal use is different of course... its akin to what you focus on naturally when you see an image..its what pops out to you. it's based on the individual's perception of an artist's work.

1920x1080 is a safe bet, but if the image fits the guidelines then the original res is fine. There's no harm in uploading the largest (original, not upscaled...) copy of an image, since it works for everyone.
Don't crop. Upload a original image and let me decide how much do I want to crop, if even. There are 24" monitors with 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 native resolution. You _will_ fiill all of 1080p with 1920x1200 wallpaper, that's obvious, but not vice versa. All of all, 1920x1200 is more wise choice.

Just make them 16:10 ! it doesen't matter if this means 5184 x 3240 or 2560 x 1600 or 1920 x 1200. Use the best quality! and don't post 10:16 or such stuff, sometimes there are nice pictures, but you can't use them as wallpaper.
