That villain at the credits scene is Thanos, a very powerful being in the Marvel Universe, he is the one who gave Loki the control of Chitauri army at the beginning of the movie

no way, since Fox still has the copyright to make X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Sony has Spider-man
In some interviews, Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige has said that they could use Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver (daughter and son of Magneto) in future Avengers movies, the same with Skrulls army (which belongs to Fox's Fantastic four)

well, if thanos is a powerful villain, why let loki attack earth in the first place? is the movie following some kind of path in the comic scene?

@ pedenski : Who knows what Thanos is up to ? He is a mastermind schemer on universal level, and Loki was just a little pawn in his game.

Another fact that may be related: In the Thor movie, you can see the Infinity Gauntlet in Odin's treasure vault. (Without the gems ofc.)

So If the next villain is going to be Thanos (With or without Gauntlet), I'm afraid that the Avengers need some help :)

What I've heard is the new Spiderman movie is mean't to be linking in with the 2nd Avengers movie

Not meaning to sound stupid, but are all the heros linked. As in are the avengers in the same "world" as the X-Men and are they in the same "world" as spiderman. It just seems that the whole mutant thing would have come up in the Avengers as there are hundreds of mutants which could have helped the avengers much more than Black Widow or Hawk Eye ever did. If your building an army to protect the earth i would have said having people like wolverine etc would be kinda useful
