I'd suggest you implement a whitelist function, and having people apply for it on the forums right here.

OK, I've found this: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/sec-authme-v2-5-high-performance-authorization-plugin-1240.22139/

That is perfect.
I've had problems with other servers where people just logged in with a other users name and stole all their stuff.

Looks good, would need to test it though as it hasn't been updated since the 4th of October so parts/all of it might not work.

No. The bukkit auth mod would solve the problems that usually come from deactivating the purchase protection.

Hopefully there won't be Towny and iConomy plug-ins. I don't like them that much. And the multiple groups is a good thing!

Obviously. But I think that is auto enabled in the first place.
Also, you forgot the super-owner.

The only possible problem that a cracked server would bring is the Inventory. As far as i know, in a cracked server if someone connects with another's name he will get their inventory since there is no protection. Im pretty sure there has to be a plugin to fix that.
That plugin + a whitelist would surely get rid of any problems that a cracked server would bring.

Because it's so damn expensive?

I'm not that much autistic to buy it. I'd rather save the money and buy something more worthwhile and time-consuming

Setting up two servers is pretty simple. You just need to put the executables (or .jar files if you run it that way) in two separate folders and setup the config files to use two separate ports. I don't really have any opinion on mods simply because I've always played on vanilla servers.

Yotoon, that is well nice of you. 24 gigs of RAM sounds delicious.
Pirates, you really should have bought the game in Alpha when it was not more than ten euros. It's the best value for money product I've ever bought. Also, just to back up Hawknight, running multiple servers on the same system is possible. I used my old Dell box with 2 gigs RAM and it worked, but the lag was horrific running them both at the same time, and that was just a private server, but anyway yes it is definitely possible. With these plug-ins the idea is seeming more interesting. It's a shame what Survival has become, though. I mostly play Creative now that it came out in the Beta/full release.

You know how Minecraft Survival started out as adventure-driven and nicely complemented the original building game? I don't like how it's becoming a half-baked pseudo-RPG; first of all I don't think it suits Minecraft and secondly I think if something attempts RPG aspects it should go all the way and stop with a dull and unnecessary levelling system.
That said, the only lost love I have for Notch is that money changed his priorities, but that's an inevitability. Mojang has come a long way and I still respect them; I just disagree with some of their design choices. Thankfully I think the modding API will change that, like the modders for Elder Scrolls games fix the quirks of otherwise perfect titles. |
